Hydroponics and IHT

Hydroponics-Hydroponics is a method of growing plants without soil. It is also referred as soil-less, water-based farming operations. In the hydroponic system, the plant roots grow in a liquid nutrient solution or inside the moist inert materials like Rockwool, Vermiculite and other inert growing media other than soil. The nutrient solution is a mixture of essential plant nutrients in the water, it is the soul of hydroponic production systems.

Hydroponics agriculture or hydroponics also include aquaculture, nutriculture, soilless culture, or tank farming, the cultivation of plants in nutrient-enriched water, with or without the mechanical support of an inert medium such as sand, gravel, or perlite.

Hydroponics Crops include Tomatoes, Lettuce, Cucumber, Kale, Spinach, Beans, Strawberries, Peppers, White Radish, Ginger Peppermint, Chives, Basil and others. Almost all crops can be more or less grown with the Modern Hi Tech Horticulture Technology. Besides, vegetables and herbs hydroponics is being used in a big way in vertical gardening of ornamental plants.

There are three Hydroponic types of soilless farming/growing technologies like hydroponics, aquaponics, and aeroponics. Hydroponics grows plants suspended in water, aeroponics grows plants suspended in air, and aquaponics is a unique combination of hydroponics and fish farming in an integrated system Similarly, hydroponic gardening is method of growing plants like vegetables, herbs, medicinal plants without soil indoors or roof tops, balconies, attached land all year round, regardless of the season or soil type outside your door.

A beginner must understand different scales of hydroponic production systems usually starting from the simplest types used by hobbyists to the big commercial plant factory. IHT provides training for all scales of hydroponics.

The cost for setting up a hydroponic farm in one acre of land will depend on the automation and technology used like grow bags or NFT. It will be Rs. 110 lakhs to Rs. 150 lakhs, assuming that the land is owned. Hydroponic farming cost and profit analysis in India is highly profitable if the crops produced has attributes like being pesticide and heavy metal free and the continuity of the quality produce is maintained after working proper marketing channels. It is an example of high yield just in a small place in any season or weather condition. Minimum investment for hydroponics will depend on the scale a person is targeting like for commercial business or hobby.

IHT School of Hydroponics provides hydroponic training in various aspects of Horticultural technologies among Hydroponics and various certificate courses with state-of-the-art infrastructure- hydroponic greenhouses, vertical farming, sophisticated labs, conference rooms, smart classrooms, hostel, sports facilities and many more.

Progressive growers, entrepreneurs, and students interested in agribusiness can enroll themselves for such trainings. We provide short term trainings 3 to 30 days training programmes. We are the only institute in India which provides 1 month residential trainings in Hydroponics where a trainee can get the opportunity to face the real time situations during the growth of a crop provided they can witness the complete life cycle of various leafy crops grown in NFT and DFT systems. Hydroponics is undoubtedly an approach to the future of agriculture and lot many business as well as employment opportunities are there both in India and abroad.
